Drupal 7, A Powerful Open Source Content Management System

Presenter: Phil Hershkowitz

Most members of NBIS have heard of Drupal, the open source content management system. Drupal recently released a major upgrade to Drupal 7.

Phil will provide an overview of Drupal and he will discuss some of the changes to Drupal that were made to enhance usability and improve the user experience.

He will also discuss the new hosted Drupal platform from Acquia, Drupal Gardens, which can greatly ease the pain of getting a Drupal site up and running.

Phil will give a live demo of building and administering a Drupal 7 site using Drupal Gardens, showcasing the improvements Drupal 7 has made in ease of use and administration.

Along the way, he will show off themes, regions, blocks, the new admin interface and other Drupal goodies and how Drupal 7 and Drupal Gardens has made selecting and modifying the visual design and appearance of a Drupal website fairly straight forward.

If there are specific questions and issues about Drupal you would like addressed, shoot Phil an email ahead of time so he can incorporate your request into the discussion:
