November 19 Meeting: Second Life
At our next meeting, November 19, Jim Oser and Erik Gordon Bainbridge will introduce us to Second Life, an online 3D virtual world. Topics they'll discuss include:

- What to do your second day on Second Life
- What a programmer or more advanced user might want to do: building your own objects, scripting, and buying land

Jim Oser owns Oser Computer Solutions. He
does Installation/Administration/Setup/Repair on Mac, Windows, Linux and
Unix platforms.
Jim is a Certified member of the Apple Consultants Network.
Erik Gordon Bainbridge has a Second Life column at Examiner.com.
He will be talking about interesting Second Life sites and answering
technical and nontechnical questions about Second Life.
Gordon and Jim have both been software developers.

Upcoming Second Life Meeting

Jim was showing me recently how he uses Second Life. He has been improving his German by joining a SL chat room where there are others around the world all communicating in German and a teacher who helps correct mistakes in usage or spelling. All done in real time. Jim is in the room with people in Europe and Asia. I thought this was a fascinating way to use social media.
